Description

The Future Teacher Scholarship Program, launched in 2019, offers merit-based scholarships to undergraduate students dedicated to entering the language education profession. Scholarships may be renewed up to three times following the initial award, for a cumulative total of $6,000 per recipient. Scholarship Details • Annual award of $1,500 per academic year • Renewable for up to three additional years (maximum total of $6,000) • Membership benefits extend through one year after graduation and entry into the teaching profession • No deferrals permitted; renewals must be in consecutive years Eligibility Criteria • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident • Must be attending or accepted to a U.S. secondary or post-secondary institution • Must be pursuing a degree leading to credentialing as a language educator • Must have completed at least two years of study in the same language or submit valid language proficiency results from ACTFL or comparable assessments • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) Application Process 1. Complete the online application form 2. Provide documentation of language study or proficiency 3. Submit your academic transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher 4. Ensure your application is submitted by the published deadline 5. Await notification of scholarship decision Teacher Scholars also receive complimentary ACTFL membership—which includes access to the ACTFL Mentoring Program aimed at early-career language educators—during their participation in the program as well as for one year following graduation and entry into the teaching field.
