DeadlineDescription
The Chang Chavkin Scholars Program in Massachusetts recognizes first-generation college students who demonstrate leadership, community engagement, and academic excellence. High school juniors from designated high schools in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, are encouraged to apply. Recipients are selected based on financial need and academic achievement. The mission of the Chang Chavkin Scholars Program is to support rural, high achieving, first generation students with the funding and resources needed to graduate from a four year college that meets their potential. The Program will provide guidance to Scholars and their families during the college search and application process. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $15,000 per year for four years toward the cost of attendance at an accredited U.S. college or university. The Program is a "last dollar" scholarship and provides up to $15,000 per year for four years toward the cost of full-time attendance at an accredited U.S. college. The Program prioritizes first generation (neither parent has a 4-year degree), high achieving students who have demonstrated financial need. Special family circumstances will be considered. To qualify, students must complete and submit the FAFSA. Selection criteria include a student's ambition to succeed at a challenging college or university, academic achievement and potential, leadership qualities, personal development and maturity, and family financial need. Interviews are held in early May each year and scholarship recipients will be notified in late May.
