College of Wooster Clarence Beecher Allen Scholarship

$164,000
Award Amount
Description

Clarence Beecher Allen, The College of Wooster's first African-American graduate in 1892, pastored one of the largest all-black Presbyterian Churches in America and served as president of the Interdenominational Ministerial Association of Pittsburgh as well as the Afro-American Council. The Clarence Beecher Allen Scholarship is awarded to African-American students on the basis of overall academic achievement and leadership. The Scholarship Committee notifies Allen Finalists by mid-January and will release all scholarship decisions following the Allen Scholarship Weekend. Selected finalists must attend the Allen Scholarship Weekend in February. We understand that families are often curious, and may be overwhelmed, when it comes to projecting college costs. Affordability and Educational Excellence make a Wooster education a great value. There's a reason The College of Wooster is singled out by college experts for our affordability and why each year we are listed as a Best Value College. With a test-blind process for merit scholarships and a commitment to transparency on costs, Wooster provides families with the information they need to understand how affordable a quality liberal arts education can be.
