The Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship award is open to high school senior athletes attending an accredited public or private high school in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant and Wise County. Each school may nominate only one student through a process determined by the school. Scholarship Details • Open to high school seniors attending specific counties in Texas • Each school may nominate one student through its own selection process • Five finalists are selected for interviews and recognition • Scholarship recipient receives up to $30,000 over four years (maximum $7,500 annually) Eligibility Criteria • Must be a high school senior in one of the eligible Texas counties: Collin Dallas Denton Ellis Johnson Kaufman Parker Rockwall Tarrant Wise • Collin • Dallas • Denton • Ellis • Johnson • Kaufman • Parker • Rockwall • Tarrant • Wise • Must participate in varsity sports sanctioned by UIL, SPC, TAPPS, TCAF, or TSCAAL • Minimum SAT score of 1100 or a minimum ACT score of 22 • Demonstrate leadership through involvement in school, community, or religious activities • Must exhibit outstanding character and a commitment to community service Application Process 1. Seek nomination from your high school, as only one student per school may be nominated 2. Prepare application materials demonstrating academic achievement, athletic participation, leadership, and community service 3. Submit application by the deadline to be considered 4. If selected as a finalist, participate in the interview with the Selection Committee on November 8, 2025 5. Attend the High School Scholarship Luncheon on November 18, 2025, where the recipient will be announced 6. Recipient will also be honored at the Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner in February. Each year the Foundation is pleased to award the winner of the High School Scholarship Award a $30,000 scholarship to be paid towards tuition, room and board, and books. The remaining finalists will each receive a $2,500 award. The winner is announced at our annual High School Scholarship Luncheon, then honored at the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Dinner in February. The 2026 application cycle opens August 18 and applications are due by October 3, with finalists interviewed on November 12 and the winner announced at the 19th Annual Scholarship Luncheon on November 18.
