The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) awards scholarships to students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in solid waste management, which includes municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, industrial waste (e.g., coal ash), and WTE ash. Scholarships are based on academic performance, professional experience, relevance to solid waste management science, and potential for success. Recipients must be full-time master's or doctoral students with a clearly demonstrated interest in solid waste management research, and applications from students outside the United States or studying abroad will receive equal consideration. Doctoral scholarships are awarded up to $16,000 per year, paid monthly, and may be renewed until graduation. Master's scholarships are awarded up to $10,000 per year and may be renewed until graduation. Award amounts consider the cost of tuition at the recipient's institution and any other funds received.
