John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship provide financial assistance to students of conservative or classical art interested in further education. In accordance with the will of the late Anna Lee Stacey, a trust fund has been created for the education of young men and women who aim to make art their profession. The scholarship is open to United States citizens, both men and women, single or married, irrespective of race, creed, or color. The age limit is between 18 and 35 years. Award amounts vary annually and range from $500 to $5,000 per recipient. At the discretion of the Committee, these may be awarded in quarterly installments. The purpose of the Scholarship, in accordance with the clear stipulation of the Staceys' will, is to foster high standard in the study of form, color, drawing, painting, design, and technique, as these are expressed in modes showing patent affinity with the classical tradition. ONLY THOSE SHOULD APPLY WHO ARE SKILLED AND DEVOTED TO THIS CLASSICAL OR CONSERVATIVE TRADITION. The terms of the Staceys' will expressly limit the scholarship to the fine arts of painting and drawing. Work in related and practical fields (such as sculpture, collage, etc.) is inadmissible except as supplementary to the required work. Types of work that DO NOT meet the qualifications for this award include sculpture, collage, printmaking, anime, animation, graphic design, illustration, fashion design and photography. The online application will ask the applicant to outline their ambitions and plans as well as submit no more than 6 examples of their paintings/drawings for judging. Applications will be accepted from October 1 through 5:00 p.m. CST, the following February 1. Notification will be emailed to applicants in early April. Check(s) will be mailed to winner(s) in May.
