Margaret E. Lavezzo Memorial Italy Travel Scholarship

The Margaret E. Lavezzo Memorial Italy Travel Scholarship is intended for students traveling to Italy for educational purposes. Students must be minoring in Italian. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information. The scholarship award was created in the memory of Mrs. Margaret E. Lavezzo, who was a member of the graduating class of 1973 with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology, and a multiple subject credential in Education in 1993. Open to students who meet the following requirements: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior; Minor in Italian; Minimum GPA 2.0; Enrolled full-time at time of award and at time of application. Applicants must include a brief essay and a literary translation. The essay should be in Italian and should state your educational intentions and goal for travel. It should be one page type written and double spaced. The literary translation should be from Dante, Petrarch, Leopardi, Renaissance poetesse, or a major modern or a contemporary Italian poet, with a ten line minimum. The original text as well as original translation should be given. Any translations taken from the internet or previously published will render the applicant unsuitable. Award: $2,500.
