The Richard Gourley Memorial Scholarship Fund is open to students with experience in 4-H and/or FFA; work or volunteer experience may also be considered. The applicant must live in and/or attend high school in Salinas, Greenfield, Soledad, Gonzales or King City. Transfer Students from those cities are also encouraged to apply. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Community Foundation for Monterey County for more information. The fund aims to award one (1) $1,000 scholarship annually. Selection criteria include documented financial need, 2.5 unweighted GPA in all courses, experience in 4-H and/or FFA, an activities resume, and a 500-word essay: "What are your career goals or, if unknown, what interests you and how will this scholarship help you?" To claim the award funds, the winning student must enroll in a 4-year school or 2-year school (including vocational school or junior college) as a full time student by the Fall semester after receiving the award, and send the Claim Form with official proof of enrollment by the due date (usually October 31).
