The SME Education Foundation Family Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors and college undergraduates who are children, dependents, or descendants of members of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Students who demonstrate academic excellence and an interest in manufacturing engineering or related technology are welcome to apply. The SME Education Foundation has been a leader in supporting the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent. Their scholarship program awards millions of dollars to hundreds of graduating high school seniors and current college students pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in technical fields that directly support manufacturing. Scholarship applications are accepted annually from November 1 – February 1; the 2026–2027 cycle has closed and applications for the 2027–2028 school year will open in November.
