Description

ACWA is the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the country. Our more than 460 public agency members collectively are responsible for 90% of the water delivered to cities, farms and businesses in California. For more than a century, our mission has been clear: To provide comprehensive leadership, advocacy and resources for California public water agencies to ensure a high quality and reliable water supply in an environmentally sustainable and fiscally responsible manner. Each year through the ACWA Scholarship Program, ACWA awards scholarships to qualified undergraduate students. To be eligible for the Stephen K. Hall ACWA Water Law & Policy Scholarship, applicants must: - Be pursuing a graduate degree (master's, PhD, or law school) in water law, water policy or public administration with a demonstrated concentration in the field of water resources. - Commit to full-time enrollment (8 semester units or 10 quarter units) for the entire academic year. - Be attending an accredited, public or private U.S. college at the start of the academic year. - Submit at least two current letters of recommendation (but no more than three), with at least one originating from a college professor or employer. - Submit official transcripts for each college attended (printed class schedules will not be accepted). - Submit an essay responding to a specific prompt (no more than 1,000 words). The annual scholarship amount is $10,000. Applications run from December until the due date. Scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement; demonstrated motivation to the vocation of water resources-related management; the quality of the student's essay; and commitment to full-time enrollment for the entire academic year. Scholarship funds are not disbursed to the student directly — funds are disbursed to the appropriate Financial Aid Office in a lump sum of $10,000 and must be applied to the student's account for tuition and fees. If a scholarship recipient fails to meet the terms of this scholarship in any way, the award may be rescinded.
