The Browning Endowment makes these and other scholarships possible. Mr. William C. Browning established a distinguished career in the mining industry and was the first person to receive the Wall Scholarship in the School of Mines at the University of Utah. To show his gratitude for the scholarship, he established a generous endowment to assist future generations of mining engineers in their quest for a college education. The Browning scholarship is available to current students, resident and nonresident, entering freshmen, and transfer students from community colleges who are interested in pursuing a degree in mining engineering at The University of Utah. Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA in high school or college work and a strong background in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Participation in extracurricular activities is also a consideration. Individuals from historically underrepresented groups, students returning to the University and nontraditional students are strongly encourage to apply.
