Tarleton State University Presidential Honors Program

Fill out our Online General Scholarship Application, and submit your official high school or college transcripts, as well as your SAT/ACT college exam scores. More than 600 different Tarleton awards are provided through one application. After submitting your General Scholarship Application online, you will automatically be matched with any of the college scholarships in our system that you qualify for, based on the information you provide. Tarleton State University Presidential Honors are awarded to incoming freshmen based on GPA, standardized test scores and participation in honors classes in high school. Applicants must have around an average SAT score of around 1260, an average ACT of around 27, and an average high school class rank in the top ten percent. Presidential Honors Scholars must maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative Tarleton GPA and complete a minimum of 12 hours of academic courses every semester while making significant progress toward their chosen degree. Admission criteria for incoming Honors students are based on class rank (generally top 10 percent), ACT/SAT scores (generally a minimum ACT of 27 and new SAT of 1260), quality of essays, extracurricular activities, service to school and community, three references, and an on-campus interview (finalists only). On a space available basis, returning students and transfer students with up to a maximum of one year of college credit may also be considered. The Honors College admits an incoming class of approximately 20 Presidential Honors Scholars each academic year. All Presidential Honors Scholars receive a scholarship from the Honors College; amounts will vary based on availability of funds and student's need, with a goal of reaching the $10,000 award cap. PHP Curriculum requirements include: at least 18 hours of honors credits (through honors core courses and honors contracts), two semesters of HNRS 1185 (Freshman Honors Seminar), two semesters of HNRS 2185 (Sophomore Honors Seminar), HNRS 3385 (Junior Honors Seminar), and successful completion and defense of an Honors Thesis. Presidential Honors Scholars are also expected to provide leadership and service to the University and the community.
