University of Dallas Classics Departmental Scholarship

The Classics Departmental Scholarship is available to high school seniors and transfer students who have applied to UDallas with an interest in studying Classics. Students are not necessarily required to major in Classics to receive or maintain the scholarship. Each student may apply for up to two departmental scholarship awards but may only receive one. Students must submit the recommendation form from their high school or college Latin or Greek teacher. Once the students have completed their application, they will be instructed on how to schedule an on-campus interview with the Classics Department. The competition consists of a one-hour Greek or Latin translation test and an interview with the Classics Department faculty. Award amount: $1,000 to $5,000 per year. Departmental scholarships are applied to tuition, and a departmental scholarship may not be added on top of a full-tuition scholarship. Applications open August 1, with a deadline to apply of December 1 and a last day to interview (in person or online) of December 15. The scholarship is renewable annually for four consecutive school years, subject to academic performance, completion of three advanced courses within the Classics Department beyond the required language Core, beginning Classics courses in the first semester of freshman year with at least one Classics course each semester at the Irving campus until the minimum is reached, and meeting with the Classics Advisor each semester for course schedule approval.
